Chisinau, Nov. 8 /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu congratulated Moldovan citizens on the victory in the referendum on European integration and the presidential elections. "Moldovans have resisted this unprecedented attack on the electoral process and have shown that they care about their country and want to be part of the great European family".

The official thanked election employees and relevant structures for their work. "Moldovans have proved that they can resist lies and propaganda through dirty money from within, but especially from outside. A great respect to our citizens from all over the world, who once again have shown that even though they are far away, their love and care for their country and their parents remains the same. We thank and appreciate them and will do our best to make this bond even stronger, despite those who try to distance them from their country. I am proud of my country and our citizens, and I owe this victory to them," said Grosu.

On October 20, the Republic of Moldova held a referendum on European integration, in which more than 50.72% of voters participated. Most of them answered "yes" to the question: "Do you agree with amending the Constitution for Moldova's accession to the European Union?". Maia Sandu was re-elected as President of the Republic of Moldova on November 3, following the runoff election.
