Chisinau, Nov. 15 /MOLDPRES/- MPs today held a minute of silence in memory of the victims of the 1,000-day war in Ukraine.
Speaker Igor Grosu noted that Moldova's neighbors and friends, Ukrainians, are living an unprecedented drama.
"It has been 1,000 days since the Russian Federation started a barbaric war in Ukraine. During all this time, millions of Ukrainians live day by day in fear of bombs and sirens. Millions of Ukrainians have fled their homes and most sadly, tens of thousands have been killed or maimed for life. Just the other day we witnessed how a young family with three children were killed by a Russian rocket in their own apartment. This is murder and such murders take place every day in Ukraine. Moldova from day one has condemned this war and from day one we stand by the Ukrainian people," Grosu said.
Since the start of the war on February 24, 2022, Moldova has received the most Ukrainian refugees per capita. According to the Moldovan Ministry of Internal Affairs, more than one million citizens of Ukraine have passed through our country since the beginning of the war, and almost 100,000 refugees have stayed to live.
