PHOTO Eco Media Academy: students from Moldova awarded prizes for convincing articles, materials on environmental protection

Chisinau, 2 December /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 140 students from six universities of Moldova, including the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia and the left bank of Dniester, finished the Eco Media Academy, carried out during September-November 2024, with the support of the United nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Sweden, in partnership with the Association of Environmental Journalists and Ecological Tourism of Moldova. Ten of the graduates received prizes for convincing articles and media products about the environmental protection at a contest held at the end of the training programme.    

The programme of the Eco Media Academy included 18 basic trainings in the biodiversity sector and waters, waste management, techniques of documentation and writing of journalistic materials, two practical activities on the ground, two study visits to the bank of Dniester and the Lower Prut nature reserve. The students were guided by six experts in the covering of environment-related problems.  

Students of the Moldovan State University, Free International University of Moldova, Alecu Russo State University from Balti, Bogdan Petriceicu-Hasdeu State University from Cahul, State University from Comrat and Taras Shevchenko University from Tiraspol participated in the Eco Media Academy. The results of the Eco Media Academy were presented on 29 November 2024. All graduates received participation diplomas.    

The Eco Media Academia was carried out within the UNDP-Sweden project, Supporting the Moldovan authorities in the sustainable management of the Dniester river.
