Moldovan parliament to make amendments to normative framework to improve prevention, combating of organized crime

Chisinau, 4 December /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament is to adopt a string of measures for the improvement of the legislation on the prevention and combating of the organized crime. The members of the parliamentary commission for national security, defence and public order today considered a draft law to this end.
The document contains provisions which deal with the implementation of efficient mechanisms of fight against the transnational organized crime and creates the normative framework for the intervention of the competent authorities, before the offences are committed, thus protecting the society from criminal attempts.
Under the legislative initiative, there will be mechanisms of collecting relevant data and information about the criminal organizations and of monitoring the assemblies of members of the organized crime rings. The measure will be applied to the organizations created with the funds of an organized crime ring or organizations which provide assistance and support to an organized crime ring. This fact will boost the process of prevention and combating of the organized crime, will allow identifying, in short terms, the members of the crime rings, ways of operating and accumulating of financial means for maintaining the organization, as well as will provide the state with instruments to intervene as quickly as possible.
The draft on the amendment of the Law on the prevention and combating of the organized crime, elaborated by the Interior Ministry, is to be considered in the parliament’s plenum.
