Chisinau, 5 December /MOLDPRES/ - A department of Chinese medicine will be created at the University Centre of Medical Rehabilitation of the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF). The University informed that it was boosting its cooperation with the University of Chinese Medicine from the Gansu province of China.
A plaque symbolizing the introduction of the Dunhuang medicine in the institution’s services has been recently unveiled at the University Centre of Medical Rehabilitation. Attending the event were representatives of the administration of the Gansu province, Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Moldova, Gansu University of Chinese Medicine, Nicolae Testemitanu USMF, teachers, specialists in rehabilitation and Chinese traditional medicine, students and resident physicians.
At the opening of the ceremony, the first USMF pro-rector, Olga Cernetchi, emphasized the stages of cooperation in the health sector between Moldova and the People’s Republic of China, which date back from 1961, when a Chinese professor, Link Cin I brought the foundations of the Chinese traditional medicine to Moldova. Subsequently, partnerships were established and numerous projects were implemented, continuing the exchanges of knowledge and experience. One of the major projects developed in Moldova is the University Centre of Chinese Traditional Medicine from Nicolae Testemitanu USMF, set up in 2011, with the support of the Chinese government. Another strategic collaboration was initiated with the Gansu University of Chinese Medicine in 2015, which was consolidated in the didactic, scientific sectors, as well as through a comprehensive programme of academic mobility.
„Today, we celebrate the beginning of a new stage of our cooperation, through the creation of the Dunhuang Department of Medicine at the headquarters of the University Centre of Chinese Traditional Medicine, which implies the implementation of very old ways of treatment specific for the Chinese traditional medicine. I am sure that, through the academic mobilities and training of specialists in the Chinese traditional medicine, the Centre will bring significant benefits to both institutions, especially for the health of the residents from Moldova,’’ Cernetchi said.
The deputy executive governor of the Gansu province, Cheng Xiaobo, thanked the authorities of Moldova’s and Nicolae Testemitanu USMF for the support of the Chinese traditional medicine. ‘’We are grateful for the nice cooperation relations between the Gansu University of Traditional Medicine and Nicolae Testemitanu USMF, which continuously develop. Due to the efforts of the governments of Moldova sand China, we switch to the phase III of development of the bilateral project. It would be nice for us to turn to good account the Chinese traditional medicine, combining it with the European medicine for the benefit of the patients,’’ the Chinese official said.
At the end of the ceremony, the governor awarded certificates of honour to USMF Rector Emil Ceban, the former rector of the University, Ion Ababii and a university assistant at the Department of medical rehabilitation, physical medicine and manual therapy, Lucia Fiser, for substantial contribution to the development of the Moldovan-Chinese partnership.
