Chisinau, Dec. 5 /MOLDPRES/- Moldova's quota to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has been increased. Parliament adopted a draft law to this effect today.
Thus, in the context of the decision of the IMF Board of Governors on the increase of quotas for all 190 member states, the subscription quota of our country to the IMF was increased from 172.5 million Special Drawing Rights (SDR) to 258.8 million SDR.
According to the authorities, this will result in the strengthening of our country's financial position in the IMF and the opportunity to obtain additional financial support, if needed. It is also aimed at increasing the available volume of financial assistance to Moldova.
The draft law on increasing Moldova's subscription to the International Monetary Fund was passed in second reading by 56 MPs.
Parliament has recently adopted draft laws providing that the Republic of Moldova will benefit from additional financial assistance from the IMF.
