Moldovan-Croatian parliamentary cooperation to be boosted

Chisinau, 6 December /MOLDPRES/ - A group of MPs from Chisinau on 2-4 December paid a working visit to the parliament of Croatia. At the visit, the lawmakers had meetings with Zagreb officials, who congratulated Moldova on the opening of the negotiations on accession to the European Union. They also expressed confidence in an active cooperation on parliamentary platform.   

Moldova’s delegation was led by the head of the parliamentary commission for foreign policy and European integration, Ina Coseru. MPs Ion Groza and Ion Poia were members of the delegation.  

In Zagreb, the delegation members met Deputy Speaker of Croatia’s Parliament  Sabina Glasovac. During the discussions, the sides tackled subjects on the consolidation of the parliamentary dialogue between the two states, as well as opportunities of cooperation and support in the process of Moldova’s European integration.   

The visit’s agenda included also meetings with the head of the Croatia’s parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs, Jelena Miloš, the deputy head of the committee, Ivan Račan , and the head of the parliamentary group of friendship with Moldova, Branko Kolarić.

The Croatian officials congratulated Moldova on the opening of the negotiations on accession to EU and expressed confidence in an active and continuous cooperation on the parliamentary platform.  

For her part, MP Ina Coseru informed the interlocutors about the political and social situation in Moldova, the results of the referendum on the accession to the European Union and of the presidential elections recently held, as well as about the parliamentary elections due to be held next year. The lawmaker stressed the Moldovan people’s firm commitment for the integration into the European Union and the Diaspora’s importance in the understanding of the EU’s values in the Moldovan society.
