Schools of Moldova to benefit from World Bank's grants to improve education's quality

Chisinau, 10 December /MOLDPRES/ - The Education and Research Ministry (MEC) today launched the Programme of School Grants worth 4.32 million dollars in all. Based on the programme, 120 grants will be provided for the modernization of general education institutions.
The initiative fits into the Education Quality Improvement Project, implemented by MEC and financially backed by the World Bank, Global Partnership for Education and the Early Learning Partnership Multi-Donor Fiduciary Fund.
„Through this programme, we encourage schools to focus their efforts in four priority directions: development of digital ways and interactive instruments, efficient assessment of learning, educational support for disadvantaged pupils and the promotion of girls’ access to the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics),’’ Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun said.
The grants will be allocated for projects concerning the development of digital ways and interactive instruments of teaching-learning, efficient evaluation of pupils’ learning, educational support for disadvantaged pupils, promotion of girts’ access to STEM sectors. The grants’ beneficiaries will be selected based on a contest.
The deadline for submitting the files is 31 December 2024. A final decision on the providing of grants will be taken in May 2025 and the projects’ implementation will start with the new school year.
The Education and Research Ministry encourages all schools of Moldova to participate in this programme and to come up with innovative projects due to contribute to the improvement of the education’s quality.
