Chisinau, Dec. 11 /MOLDPRES/- Moldova will receive non-reimbursable financing worth 12 million euros from the European Union for the repair of Vălcineț-Ocnița-Balti-Ungheni-Chisinau-Cainari railway corridor.
The members of the parliamentary committee on economy, budget and finance approved the ratification of the grant agreement between Moldova and the European Investment Bank - Moldova Solidarity Lanes. The document was also examined by the foreign policy and European integration committee.
Thus, the investment in rail infrastructure in the country will have a positive impact on both the business environment and citizens. This will result in an increase in the volume of goods transported by rail, as mass restrictions on these sectors will be removed. Passenger numbers will also increase as trains will run at higher speeds and journey times will be reduced.
The grant agreement has to be ratified by Parliament.
