PHOTO Teachers from Nicolae Testemitanu Medical University of Moldova trained in providing emergency first aid

Chisinau, 13 December /MOLDPRES/ - A group of teachers from the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) have successfully finished a course titled, Medical Emergencies, Basic Concept. The classes were held at the University Centre of Simulation in Medical Training.    

The course included a string of essential methodologies, including the algorithm ACBCDE (Airway, Cervical, Breathing, Circulation, Disability, Exposure), the primary evaluation and the resuscitation of the injured patient in critical condition, management of the breathing difficulty, of injury, shock, of the state of unconsciousness, as well as the patient’s transfer and taking over.    

The USMF first pro-rector for teaching activity and academic management, Olga Cernetchi, has said that the participation of departments showed an excellent cooperation which allowed the integration of the knowledge and experience with clinical practice. This will contribute to the continuous development of the curriculum, thus making possible for the ways of teaching and the content of the courses to be updated and relevant. The professor expressed confidence that the skills got would be transposed by the participants in the didactic and clinical activity and in the long run, these courses are scheduled to be held for other groups of people.     

The participants in the course represented the Gheorghe Ciobanu Department of medical emergencies, the Department of surgery, orthopedics and pediatrics anaesthesiology Natalia Gheorghiu, the cardiology Discipline, the Discipline of pneumology and allergology and the Discipline of obstetrics and gynecology.     

The training was initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO) with the representation in Moldova, with the involvement of Moldova’s Health Ministry and the Nicolae Testemitanu USMF. The course was held with the financial support of the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration of the U.S. Department of State, in the context of the crisis of refugees from Ukraine and within the European Union’s project, EU4Moldova: Building a sustainable health system.
