MPs held minute of silence in memory of fallen heroes of Dniester war

Chisinau, Dec. 13 /MOLDPRES/- MPs today held a minute of silence in memory of the heroes who fell in 1992 Dniester war in defense of the integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova.
MP Boris Marcoci reminded the lawmakers that today marks 33 years since the first casualties were recorded in the Transnistrian conflict. "Thirty-three years ago, on December 13, on the Dniester were our first policemen who wanted to defend the integrity of the Republic of Moldova. That morning, at 5:30 am, the police station in the city of Dubasari, controlled by Chisinau, was notified that an attack was being prepared. Guards in an armored car approached the police station and other police officers were sent to their aid. Near the traffic police station, the first shot was fired, which killed the first policemen who fell heroes for the integrity and security of the Republic of Moldova," Marcoci said.
Some 30 thousand people, servicemen, police and volunteers took part in the 1992 armed conflict. Some 300 people lost their lives in the fighting and dozens are still missing.
