Mobile phones to be banned in Moldova's schools during classes

Chisinau, 13 December /MOLDPRES/ - The lawmakers today adopted a string of amendments to the Education Code.

According to the new amendments, the use of electronic communication devices during classes will be allowed on education purpose, in emergency situations, such as the health condition and in the need of monitoring the health condition of the pupils with disabilities or severe chronic diseases, confirmed by documents.

Also today, the MPs voted a document which introduces three new notions in the Education Code: artistic education, specialized artistic education and complementary artistic education. Also, the article which regards the types of education institutions is completed with a new type: institution of complementary artistic education - arts school (music, theatre, fine arts, dance). Only disciplines of art profile will be taught at these institutions. The way of organization and work of these institutions will be established through a framework regulation approved by the Education and Research Ministry.    

Another change of the Education Code regards the introduction, in the lyceum education, of a general education profile, besides the real and humanistic ones, for the schools where a single lyceum class will be opened.  

Presently, there are 138 music, art and fine art schools in Moldova with 19,850 education places and about 2,300 teachers.
