Moldovan PM hands over National Prize to those eight laureates of 2024 year

Chisinau, 16 December /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean has handed over the National Prize to those eight personalities winners of the 2024 year, nominated by a Commission set up by the government. The laurates received the government’s diploma, a medal and a money prize worth 100,000 lei. According to PM Dorin Recean, the National Prize represents recognition of the society for the people who bring value.
The prime minister stressed that, in the European integration process, Moldova was getting closer to a world of civilization and values, to which it can provide innovation, creation, achievements and scientific discoveries. ‘’I am happy that, during these times, relatively difficult, we find room to celebrate the work, talent, performance of those who work hard to develop good, nice things, either it is about the science, or about culture, or it is about sport or other social aspects. I feel privileged to be able to participate in this event, during which we will award these national prizes. And in essence, this is the society’s recognition for the people who bring value, for people who share this value with the society of Moldova, as well as with the one from abroad. I want to thank the laureates of the National Prize for the fact that you are in this process of creation of national values.
„I want to thank also my colleagues with whom we were together in this Commission for evaluation. I want an as big as possible competition from now on too, as we have very much talent, innovation in our country and our everybody’s task is to turn to good account these talents, show them to the society and the entire world,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said at the ceremony on the awarding of the National Prize.
The following personalities are laureates of the National Prize in 2024:
Maria Mocanu, singer, folklorist, journalist, People’s Artist – for outstanding contribution to the promotion of the national values;
Sergiu Galben, fine artist – for prodigious activity in the fine arts field and the creation of valuable works;
Nicolae Dohotaru, director general and chief conductor of the Maria Biesu National Opera and Ballet Theatre, People’s Artist, Knight of the Labour Glory Order, Master in Art, professor – for outstanding achievements in the development of the national culture, promotion of artistic values and cultural management;
Ion Ciutac, PhD in medical sciences, university lecturer, coordinator in emergency surgery at the Holy Trinity Municipal Clinical Hospital – for exceptional achievements in surgery;
Denis Nica, PhD in physical sciences, university lecturer, researcher – for significant contribution to the development of the fundamental theory of the thermal transport in nano-structures;
Nicolae Negru, writer, author of theatre plays, political pundit, editorialist of the National Newspaper – for the national message and for the deepness of his literary, dramaturgic and journalistic work, as well as for the self-biographic work titled, O progenitură dușmană (A Hostile Offspring);
Serghei Tarnovschi, Merited Master of Sports, who participated and got medal at the Olympic Games, world champion and medal winner at European games/championships , triple university world champion, professional sportsman.
Sergiu Cumatrenco, a producer and distributor of films, was awarded the prize for special merits and artistic contribution to the promotion of the cinematographic art in Moldova.
The National Prize is annually awarded to personalities who have contributed to the flourishing of the science, education, economy, sport and promoted the national values.
