Olympic Gala 2024 // Best pupils of Moldova, their teachers awarded prizes for results achieved at Olympiads, international contests

Chisinau, 17 December /MOLDPRES/ - The best pupils of Moldova who got medals at international, European and Balkan Olympiads and contests today were awarded prizes in Chisinau, at the Olympic Gala. The teachers who contributed to the training of the national Olympic teams were also paid homage at the event, held at the headquarters of the Palace of the Republic.
Thirty nine pupils and 42 teachers were awarded Diplomas of Excellence at the Olympic Gala. The event brought together about 400 teachers, members of the republican Olympic boards and of juries, pupils who got medals and honorary mentions at European, Balkan and international Olympiads, special guests.
Attending the event, Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun said that the pupils who had got outstanding results at international Olympiads were models for their colleagues, for communities and for the society on the whole. ‘’Your results at international Olympiads are not only trophies or medals; they are also incontestable proofs of the fact that the excellence can be achieved, even in the most difficult circumstances. You proved that the passion for knowledge and the discipline can transcend any obstacle. You are more than Olympics; you are models for your colleagues, for your communities and the society on the whole. You work inspires us and gives us courage to believe in future. Do not forget that each of you has power to change the world,’’ Dan Perciun said.
An adviser of Moldova’s president in the education and research sector, Valentina Chicu, has come up with a message for the Olympic pupils and their teachers. ‘’Each year, we are happy and are proud of the results of our pupils. The medals which you get are symbols of the success; but they show also the determination, the effort which you make on your way,’’ Valentina Chicu said.
The Education and Research Ministry in 2024 delegated pupils from Moldova to participate in 16 European, Balkan and international Olympiads and contests, held in Georgia, Egypt, USA, Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Kazakhstan, Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria, North Macedonia.
The diplomas of excellence awarded to the pupils are accompanied by money prizes, as well as prizes offered by the Electronic Governance Agency and the Future Technologies Activity Project, implemented by Chemonics International and financed by the U.S. Agency for International Development, Sweden and the UK.
