Moldovan PM's message on occasion of Europe Day

Chisinau, 9 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Dorin Recean has conveyed a message on the occasion of the Europe Day, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.  

The message reads:

„On 9 May, we celebrate the Peace, 

Unfortunately, there are still places in the world where explosions are heard, where families leave their home and flee, where people died senselessly of strikes with missiles. Such events take place just in our immediate neighbourhood.   

The celebration of victory in the World War II was always accompanied by gratitude for the peaceful sky, by the happiness in the eyes of the veterans, for the fact that the new generations did not know the horrors of the war.    

Presently, the sky is not peaceful above Ukraine. Families are divided, mothers see their young people leaving to front and millions of Ukrainian children see and hear explosions. In Moldova, parents explain to children of various ages what the war means, as well as the value of the peace.  

We understand that the peace is not something guaranteed. The peace is the result of energetic and joint actions, which can put us under protection. The peace is no longer a decision of individual countries, but the result of the agreements observed between the civilized countries.   

We celebrate the European peace; we celebrate the capacity of countries to give up war as instrument of foreign policy. Today, we celebrate the European Union project, an economic, political and social project, in which we want to participate. Today, we celebrate the fact that our country has managed to avoid the challenges, the destabilization and the attempts of the forces, which are in the service of another state, to attract us in war.’’
