Commission for assessing integrity of judges and candidates for CSJ judge to become functional

Chisinau, June 15. /MOLDPRES/- Parliament approved today the draft decisions on appointment of the members of the Commission on external evaluation of the ethical and financial integrity of judges and candidates for the position of judge of the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ).

According to the procedure, the Action and Solidarity Party parliamentary faction proposed two candidates to the Parliament plenary: Iurie Gațcan and Andrei Bivol. Also, the Communists and Socialists Bloc faction submitted the candidacy of Lilian Enciu. On the part of the development partners, the candidates were selected, based on the competition: Lavly Perling (Estonia), Maria Giuliana Civinini (Italy) and Scott Bales (USA).

The evaluation commission is made up of six members. Three members, citizens of the Republic of Moldova, are proposed by the parliamentary fractions, taking into account the proportional representation of the majority and the parliamentary opposition, and three other members are appointed at the proposal of the development partners.
