Moldovan firemen, rescuers participate in tactical exercises in Iasi county of Romania

Chisinau, 16 June /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 100 firemen from Moldova, along with the same number of firemen of Romania participate in tactical exercises of training as to the improvement of the intervention techniques at the extinguishing of fires and search and rescue, as well as self-rescue procedures, in conditions of safety. The trainings are held at the centre of training and specialty education of the Mihail Sturdza Inspectorate for Emergency Situations from the Iasi county, Romania, on 12-16 June.
According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), on the training polygon, those 200 rescuers and firemen from both countries take part in simulated missions, among which: interventions in water, extinguishing fires, providing the first qualified aid, as well as the carrying out of search and rescue works in hostile areas (rubble, basements, tunnels, wells).
At the same time, the participants improve the intervention techniques in team when carrying out missions of extrication, rescue at height, as well as the seeking of people with the help of trained dogs.
According to the quoted source, the goal of the bilateral exercise is to enhance the safety and the degree of protection of the residents, through improving the education and maintaining the capacity of intervention of the professional services for emergency situations, including the Romanian Mobile Emergency Service for Resuscitation and Extrication (SMURD), in the cross-border area. At the same time, the trainings are aimed at improving the power capacities, harmonizing the team work and developing the efficiency of intervention in various emergency situations in the cross-border area.
The exercises are held within the Joint Operational Programme Romania-Moldova 2014-2020, in the SMURD-2 project, financed by the European Union.
