EcoContact promotes environmental justice actions under EU legislation

Chisinau, June 17. /MOLDPRES/- EcoContact association promotes the consolidation of cooperation and strengthening of knowledge on the investigation of environmental crimes in the context of the harmonization of national legislation with that of the European Union. For this, yesterday was the start of joint training for representatives of the territorial subdivisions of the General Prosecutor's Office and the Inspectorate for Environmental Protection, focused on Peculiarities of investigating violations of environmental legislation.

The trainings will be held on June 16 - 23, in the regions of the north, center and south of Moldova, and aim to strengthen the knowledge and capabilities of the participants regarding the correct and uniform application of environmental legislation in the case of investigating environmental crimes and/or contraventions. 

The first training brought together 30 representatives of the territorial subdivisions of the General Prosecutor's Office and the Inspectorate for Environmental Protection from the districts of Cimișlia, Cahul, Cantemir, Căuşeni, Taraclia, Leova, Hâncești, Ialoveni, Gagauzia.

The events are held under the project - A green justice for a protected environment and sustainable communities in Moldova financially supported by Sweden and implemented by AO EcoContact, in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment of the Republic of Moldova. One of the main components of the project aims to strengthen the capacities of public authorities involved in the implementation of governance and environmental justice in Moldova.
