Moldova determined to further carry out joint projects with Romania, due to bring benefits for all Moldovan citizens

Chisinau, 20 June /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has received on visit Romania’s Foreign Affairs Luminita Odobescu, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
The officials discussed the importance of the bilateral relations and strongly expressed the confidence that they would continue developing in the same sustained pace. Romania supports Moldova with concrete projects. In the context, the sides discussed the construction of the overhead power line Balti-Suceava, the construction of three road bridges across the Prut river, as well as the recent inauguration of the Leova-Bumbata border crossing point. We are determined to further carry out joint projects due to bring benefits to the citizens on both banks of the Prut river.
Due to the openness and constant dialogue, the relations between Moldova and Romania are the strongest in the last three decades. The concrete contribution of Romania to backing Moldova is recognized by all Moldova’s citizens, no matter the political or geopolitical preferences.
„During the discussion, we referred to Moldova’s European integration way and our significant progress in the implementation of those nine recommendations of the European Commission. Our goal is the launch of the negotiations on accession to EU in an as short period as possible and Mrs. Odobescu assured me that Romania would provide a firm support to this end. Romania is the principal advocate of Moldova in the process of accession to EU, for which we are quite grateful to the Bucharest authorities.
We also discussed the Moldova Support Platform – a joint project of Romania, France and Germany; the next edition is to take place in Chisinau in October 2023, where we will bring together the friends of Moldova.
I also expressed gratitude for the participation of Mr. President Klaus Iohannis in the second edition of the EPC Summit. We are grateful to Romania for the support provided for the organization of this event, especially as regards the security and the relations with the media. The success of the summit is the result of our joint efforts,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.
