Chisinau, June 21 /MOLDPRES/- Photo exhibition - Moldpres State News Agency - 33 years eyewitness of the Republic of Moldova, which includes over 160 photos of political, social, economic and cultural events since independence until now, was opened at the National History Museum on Tuesday.
The exhibition is organized on marking the 33rd anniversary of MOLDPRES Agency, in order to present in images the events that left an imprint on the history of our country. The images reflect important moments from 1991 to 2023.
The images are displayed in chronological order of the events, and the oldest photo is from 1991 and reflects an image from the adoption of the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Moldova. Among the important events that are also reflected in the images exhibited at the National History Museum of Moldova are the conflict on the Dniester, the swearing in of several heads of state and government, the visit of important foreign officials to our country, the 7 April 2009 events etc. At the same time, visitors can also admire photos from recent events, such as the European Moldova National Assembly or the European Political Community Summit.
Moldpres director Petru Beregoi said at the opening of the exhibition that this is a good opportunity to demonstrate that Moldpres, in addition to its basic mission - that of informing, also has the task of preserving the memory of our country's historical past, through photo art. "The photo exhibition includes the most important events that have taken place in our country since independence until now, when the country's path is heading irreversibly towards a much-desired path - that of democracy and the development of life. The exhibition presents over 160 unique photos selected from the Agency's digital archive according to the chronology of the events, where prominent personalities of the political, economic and cultural life of the country can be found. At the same time, the exhibition also highlights major events that changed the vision, the concept and even the course of things in all these 33 years", he said.
Petru Beregoi also added that Moldpres is the only media institution in the country, which over time has managed to demonstrate that it has the ability to maintain its mission - that of informing correctly, equidistantly and transparent. "During all these 33 years, Moldpres was and remains the main source of information for the international community, about the activity and state policy promoted by the Presidency, Parliament and Government. Also, Moldpres Agency honors its mission of informing citizens, addressing news topics according to the rigors and deontological techniques of journalism. Moldpres contributes considerably to balancing and securing the information space of the Republic of Moldova by maintaining the correct, impartial information line, does not appeal to prejudices, does not use rumors and anonymous sources as sources of information, respects the principle of pluralism of opinions, freedom of expression and that of impartiality", Petru Beregoi said.
The head of the News Department of IP AIS "Moldpres", Fidel Galaico, said "this age of 33 years is somewhat symbolic. We remember that it is an age of crucifixion... And the Moldpres Agency, during these 33 years, was subjected to several attempts of "crucifixion", liquidation, "optimization", but we resisted, which proves that we are a consolidated and professional team. As for the selection of photos - we wanted to show that apart from politics in Moldova there is also agricultural work, even if currently farmers are protesting, there are popular traditions, there are sports, medicine, etc.
The exhibition denotes the courage and even heroism of our photojournalists, who were in the trenches during the Transnistrian war or reflected the fight of doctors with the COVID-19 epidemic. We have to thank all the photojournalists - master Mihai Potârniche, Mihai Vengher, Andrei Mardari, Petru Cazacu, Valerii Corcimari, Igor Zenin, all who have been operating over time at Moldpres and made this exhibition possible", Fidel Galaico said.
Moldpres photojournalist Mihail Vengher, who is one of the authors of the photos said that they represent a heritage for the history of the country. "When we were working on organizing the exhibition, we went through the hundreds of thousands of images included in the agency's archive, selected the most representative moments and exhibited them to the public," he said.
Members of the diplomatic staff accredited to Chisinau, representatives of state institutions and employees of Moldpres were present at the opening of the exhibition.
Moldpres marked 33 years since its foundation on 20 June. During these years, the institution had the mission of ensuring the production and dissemination of information, the publication and editing of official documents, informing the public opinion in the country and abroad on current events. MOLDPRES archive includes over 200 thousand images.
We are waiting for you to browse Moldova's past together with MOLDPRES. The exhibition will be open until July 4.
