US government offers several financing opportunities for Moldovan winemakers

Chisinau, July 6. /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan winemakers will be able to benefit from training and financing under Promotion of Moldovan Wine Exports (WESA) program, launched yesterday by the US Agency for International Development (USAID). The objectives of the program include increasing international visibility, increasing the added value and sales of wine of Moldova.

The program launched by the USAID Rural Competitiveness and Resilience Project in Moldova provides for the development of a marketing and promotion plan to increase exports with the aim of increasing the sales of quality wines on non-traditional markets, in high value-added segments, by stimulating and supporting marketing activities and promotion of wine exporters, and implicitly, by building a positive image of Moldovan Wine on traditional markets (Romania, Poland, Great Britain, Holland, Denmark, South Korea, Japan, Canada, etc.), as well as on other new markets with potential for increasing wine exports.

"The total budget of the WESA program is 13 million lei (650 thousand euros). It is anticipated that non-refundable financial support will be provided for around 20 companies in the wine field. The duration of any grant granted under this program will not exceed 24 months", the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) said.

Applications will be submitted in three stages: Stage 1: by July 31; Stage 2: by September 29; Stage 3: by November 30, 2023. At the same time, the project will organize an informative workshop in person and the application procedure will take place on July 20 at the Mediacor headquarters.
