Chisinau, July 6. /MOLDPRES/- In the Transnistrian region there is a group of so-called diplomats, whose activity is aimed at a field other than the diplomatic one. Speaker Igor Grosu made the statement in an interview to AGERPRES.
Regarding a possible expulsion of diplomats from the Russian Federation, on the principle of parity, the official said that this issue is being analyzed by those who can make decisions in this regard.
"There are enough cases when people under the status of diplomats of the Russian Federation, arriving in Chisinau, quickly reach the left bank of the Dniester, in the Transnistrian region. They don't only deal with diplomacy there. We know about this. Now we will make an assessment of the volume of work that they have here and we will come up with a decision in this regard", said Grosu.
He said that in the Transnistrian region "there is a group of so-called diplomats, whose activity is aimed at a field other than the diplomatic one". "It belongs to the field of the secret services and we will have to evaluate each case individually. There have been cases when citizens from the Russian Federation, who could not credibly justify the purpose of their visit to the Republic of Moldova, were refused entry into the country. We are forced to apply more special filters, upon entering the country, for certain citizens and for a certain profile of visitors. Since the beginning of the invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, the numbers have increased," he said.
