Customs Service, ANTA join forces to combat illicit transport of goods, people

Chisinau, July 13. /MOLDPRES/- The Customs Service and the National Road Transport Agency (ANTA) will take several joint actions to combat the illegal transport of people, goods and parcels in international traffic across the border of the Republic of Moldova. A document to this effect was signed by the heads of the two institutions.
The document establishes the institutionalized framework for interaction and consolidation of operational cooperation on the dimension of preventing and combating the illicit transport of people, goods and parcels in international traffic, but also promoting the carrying out of the legal activity of transport operators.
According to the Customs Service, the purpose and objectives of the Plan provide for the implementation of joint control actions, focused on detecting, preventing, combating and counteracting the illicit transport of people, goods and parcels in international traffic across the country's border, as well as their transport without documents of legal provenance. At the same time, efforts will be strengthened to ensure the legality of the road transport of people in international traffic: regular, special regular, occasional services, including those on own account, road transport of goods, cabotage operations, as well as compliance with the work and rest regime of car drivers.
According to the document, joint operational activities are to be carried out by mixed mobile teams, which will exchange information, carry out patrol and control actions and intensify customs control over means of transport, goods and people.
The implementation period of the Plan is by 2025, and the representatives of the two institutions responsible for the planned actions will meet as necessary to evaluate the results, with the identification of common objectives for the continuous implementation of the Plan.
