Chisinau, July 14. /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu had a meeting with USAID Administrator Samantha Power in Washington. The officials discussed the generous assistance provided by USAID in recent years to support the development agenda of the Republic of Moldova, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
"Thank you on behalf of the Moldovan citizens and on my own behalf that all these years, the United States of America has been with us. I don't think there is any locality in Moldova that has not directly or indirectly benefited from projects carried out by USAID with the support of the American people", he said.
The speaker expressed gratitude that these days, Ms. Power's assistant is in Chisinau, where launched several programs. One of the new USAID projects launched in Chisinau is the Justice and Anti-Corruption Reform Activity (JARA), which will support the Moldovan government's efforts to implement justice reform and promote commitments to combat corruption. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Ministry of Energy of Moldova, which will facilitate the long-term reduction of energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
"Through USAID programs, we managed to overcome the Russian embargoes imposed on our wines in 2005, then in 2013, and now this wine industry is our ambassador. Thanks to the support of American partners, we faced the worst energy crisis to date and managed the refugee crisis. We have important investments in projects related to young people, in the creative industry, the light industry, tourism and agriculture", Grosu said.
