National Integrity Authority: 13 mayors, district deputy head admitted conflicts of interest

Chisinau, July 18. /MOLDPRES/- A district deputy head and 13 mayors, who were involved in providing compensation and humanitarian aid to farmers affected by natural calamities on the 2020 harvest violated the legal regime of conflicts of interest. The National Integrity Authority (ANI) made the finding.

"Integrity inspectors issued 14 documents confirming the violation of the legal regime of conflicts of interest regarding a district deputy head and 13 mayors who, as president/members of the Commissions for assessing the damage caused to agricultural crops, participated in taking decisions regarding peasant households or commercial companies in which they hold shares or belong to close people", said ANI.

Among the targeted persons are mayors of Frasin and Baraboi, Dondușeni district; Elizaveta, Balti municipality; Cușmirca, Soldănești district; Drochia, Drochia district.

According to ANI, the sanctions to the subjects of the control were determined according to the degree of guilt, the nature of the violation, the number and duration of the violations, the commission of similar violations previously, the damage to the public interest and the position.
