President visits several localities in northern Moldova

Chisinau, July 18. /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu was today in several localities in the north of the country, in Briceni district, the presidential press service has reported.
The official met with several farmers in the region and discussed the problems in the sector and especially the impact of global warming on agriculture. "The construction of irrigation systems is one of the solutions, only this requires considerable investment. The government has managed to mobilize external sources and will initiate the construction of irrigation systems in several localities in the next few months. But to face the new challenges, we all need to use water resources more carefully than in the past, and farmers need to grow drought-resistant crops," the president said.
In Drepcăuți, Maia Sandu discussed with the local people and those coming from Criva about the markets for small farmers, about pensions, about the need for community involvement in monitoring the implementation of local development projects. Drepcăuți benefits from two projects from the European Village Program, aimed at providing water for the kindergarten and setting up a playground in the locality.
In Grimăncăuți village, the president visited the specialized boxing sports school which over the years has trained generations of champions. Under the leadership of Emeritus Coach Petru Caduc, disciples Vitalie Grușac and Veaceslav Gojan brought 2 Olympic medals out of the 6 that our country has in boxing. The school's coaches continue to work with children and young people who love sports and who want to become performance athletes. The head of state congratulated them on their successes and thanked them for their dedication.
