Moldova to denounce agreement with CIS

Chisinau, August 18 /MOLDPRES/- Moldova will denounce an agreement setting the mechanisms of interaction on the provision of the Border Guard Troops of the member countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States with weapons and military equipment.

The parliamentary committee on foreign policy and European integration approved the advisory opinion on the denunciation of the Agreement on principles of providing the Border Guard Troops with weapons, military equipment and other material resources, organization of scientific research and experimental construction works, signed in Tashkent, in May 1992.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the agreement exhausted its relevance for the Republic of Moldova shortly after its conclusion, it was not implemented by the relevant authorities.

In the spring session, the Parliament denounced eight agreements concluded on CIS platform. Six other projects to denounce the agreements with the CIS are registered in the Legislature and are to be examined by the deputies.
