Moldovan official journal roundup for 18 August

Chisinau, August 18 /MOLDPRES/- The promulgation decree and the Law on the Center for Strategic Communication and Combating Disinformation and regarding the modification of some normative acts were published today in the Official Journal and entered into force.

The Center for Strategic Communication and Combating Disinformation will have the mission of strengthening cooperation between institutions in the fight against disinformation, manipulation of information and foreign interference, which pose a danger or may harm national security and endanger the achievement of national interests. The institution will implement the necessary measures to ensure the security of the information space and to increase the degree of resilience of society to threats.

The legislature, through the specialized parliamentary committees, will exercise parliamentary control over the Center's activity.

This law enters into force upon the publication in the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova. Until the finalization of the process of institutionalization of the Center's activity, within two months from the date of entry into force of this law, the President of the Republic of Moldova will submit to the Parliament the candidate for the position of director of the Center for a provisional term of 12 months. 

Within two months from the date of entry into force of this law, the state authorities and public institutions will appoint the members of the Council in accordance with the provisions of Article 14.
