Chisinau, 21 August /MOLDPRES/ - Over 300 citizens of Moldova who live in 24 states participated in Diaspora’s Congress, held in Chisinau on 18-19 August. The State Chancellery’s state secretary, Adrian Balutel, unveiled information to this effect. He summed up the activities organized for Diaspora citizens in August.

The events dedicated to the Diaspora started with the DOR camp, in which 100 children of Moldova’s citizens who live abroad participated. They spent together ten days in Moldova, went on excursions to explore the country’s heritage, spoke Romanian, tasted traditional Moldovan dishes, discovered the specific feature of the work of craftsmen from Moldova and met authorities’ representatives, including President Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.

„We started the August month with the DOR camp, which brought together with physical presence about 100 children from 21 countries, after three years of pandemic, during which the camp was held in online format. We want as many children as possible to come home as often as possible. The camp will continue. We analyze options for the camp to be organized in larger proportions and we bring together as many participants as possible,’’ Adrian Balutel said.

The events dedicated to Diaspora continued at Diaspora’s Congress, which on 18 August brought together over 300 citizens from 24 states. ‘’We referred to the consular fees which were cut, the consular services available, the business opportunities at home, to the problems faced by the Diaspora citizens and analyzed solutions,’’ the state secretary noted.

The Diaspora Days included also an economic forum, in which Moldova’s citizens who live in 20 states, especially entrepreneurs, took part. ‘’For the first time since 2014, we revived the format of the Diaspora Business Forum this year. At the event, we discussed especially the programmes of the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA), opportunities of involvement in Moldova, discussed with Diaspora representatives who started a business at home perspectives of Moldova’s economic development. We want to continue this format each year uninterruptedly, as we trust the economic potential of the Diaspora,’’ Balutel said.

The activities within Diaspora Days on 19 August evening culminated with a show titled, We wat you at home!, organized on the platform of the Chisinau Railway Station. The event’s goal was to give an occasion of meeting and communication to all those who had gone through the experience of leaving their homes and beloved people, as well as through the experience of returning home after more years of living abroad.
