Moldovan cabinet approves new rules for preservation, sale of fish

Chisinau, 21 August /MOLDPRES/ - The government today approved new rules for the packing, labelling, preservation and carriage for fish and fish products, which come both from the native production and import. Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea gave assurances that, once the draft implemented, the fish due to reach tables of Moldova’s citizens would be absolutely safe for consumption.  

The need to work out the document was conditioned by the lack of a pertinent framework of regulation, which is to establish the exhaustive requirements of quality for fish and fish products.   

Deputy Prime Minister, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vladimir Bolea, at the cabinet meeting, said the draft’s approval would not influence the entrepreneurial activity, but would be a support for the state’s authorities, in order to monitor the observance of the requirements imposed to producers, processors and traders and the citizens will be protected against the risks for health.     

The requirements approved are aligned with the European Union’s legislation.
