Civil society contributes to inclusive, sustainable development of Moldova

Chisinau, 22 August /MOLDPRES/ - Five young people from various settlements of Moldova have developed businesses within a project titled, Civil society contributes to the inclusive and sustainable economic development in Moldova. The project is financed by the European Union and co-financed by Sweden.  

The project is implemented by the East-European Foundation, through which grants were provided for the sub-project, Economic empowering and social and professional integration of NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) young people with disabilities, implemented by the Alliance of Organizations for People with Disabilities from Moldova (AOPD).     

The programme supports ten entrepreneurship funds, which provide technical and financial assistance for the economic activities of young people Not in Education, Employment or Training, finances ten consortiums of the civil society’s organizations which develop and provide services of inclusive employment for vulnerable groups. ‘’Within the project, finance is provided for the creation and development of 15 social enterprises, which will integrate vulnerable people on the labour market and six business support regional centres will be financed,’’ the organizers said.    

Starting from February 2021, with the European Union’s financial support and co-financing on behalf of Sweden, the East-European Foundation, in partnership with the European Business Association and Contact Centre, has been implementing the project, Civil society contributes to the country’s inclusive and sustainable economic development. The project, with duration of 40 months, has the goal to contribute to Moldova’s economic development through the active involvement of the civil society and other sides interested, taking into account the provisions of the Association Agreement with the European Union, which comprises the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area.
