Chisinau, 22 August /MOLDPRES/ - The Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry (MAEIE) today issued a press release, thereby making specifications on the vegetation fires in Greece. The ministry recommends that Moldovan citizens avoid trips to the areas hit by fires.
Thus, MAEIE informs that more regions of Greece face vegetation fires. It is about the regions Viotia, Rhodope, Evia Island and the Alexandroupolis city.
“In the context, MAEIE stressed that no Moldovan citizen was affected, as no requests of assistance at our diplomatic mission in Athens have been received so far. In this respect, we recommend that Moldovan citizens avoid trips to the areas hit by fires and those who are already in those areas should contact our diplomatic mission. MAEIE, through our embassy in Athens, permanently keeps in touch with the local authorities and is prepared to provide consular assistance, depending on requests,’’ the press release reads.
At a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotákis in Athens, President Maia Sandu said that Moldova might detach 56 firemen due to help extinguish the devastating fires faced by Greece. ‘’ I told the Greek PM that our country is ready to detach, on the next days, 56 firemen to help extinguish the devastating fires faced by Greece, just as we did this in the previous years as well. We are in solidarity with the friendly countries, when needed,’’ the Moldovan president said.
Greece has been facing more violent vegetation fires in the last time. Emergency state is declared in more areas.
