Moldovan Superior Council of Magistracy publishes list of candidates who submitted applications on participation in contest for replacing offices of judge at Supreme Court of Justice

Chisinau, 23 August /MOLDPRES/ - The Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) has published the list of candidates who submitted applications on participation in the contest for the replacing of offices of judge at the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ). Twenty five people are included in the list.
The list made public includes the acting prosecutor general, Ion Munteanu, the deputy acting prosecutor of the chief prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Causes (PCCOCS), Sergiu Brigai, the director of the Justice Programme of the Legal Resources Centre of Moldova (CRJM), Vladislav Gribincea, a member of the Supreme Council of Prosecutors (CSP), Svetlana Balmus, lawyers, prosecutors and magistrates of the Balti Court of Appeal, Chisinau Court and Criuleni Court.
The candidates included in the list will fight for 20 vacant positions at CSJ.
The contest for the replacing of the vacant offices at the Supreme Court of Justice was launched on 10 April and was subsequently repeatedly extended. Last time, CSM extended the contest in June 2023.
Under the law, the new numerical composition of the Supreme Court of Justice is to be made up of 11 judges among judges and nine judges among lawyers, prosecutors or university professors.
