Balti-based lyceum undergoes energy optimization with EU's assistance

Chisinau, 23 August /MOLDPRES/ - The pupils of the Dimitrie Cantemir theoretical lyceum from Balti during the new academic year will study in energy renovated building, within a project backed by the European Union, which is at the stage of completion.
Presently, the last works of energy renovation of the facades of the blocks A and A2 are carried out at the lyceum. At the institution, the old windows have been earlier replaced, the roof was reconstructed, electricity and water supply networks, as well as heating and ventilation systems were set, according to the North Regional Development Agency (ADR Nord).
Following the full implementation of the project, the normed annual consumption of energy at the education institution will decrease, according to estimations, by 547 MWh and the normed annual emissions of C02 – by 125 tons. About 960 pupils and teachers, as well as auxiliary staff will benefit from improved conditions for education and a comfortable environment for education, the quoted source noted.
The investment measure, Enhancement of the energy efficiency of the Dimitrie Cantemir theoretical lyceum from the Balti municipality, is financed by the European Union and implemented by ADR Nord and the project, Modernization of Local Public Services in Moldova (MSPL). The MSPL project is financed by the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) Moldova, in partnership with Moldova’s Infrastructure and Regional Development Ministry.
