Chisinau, 23 August /MOLDPRES/ - The third issue of the Moldova-Romania Forum in the justice sector will be held in Chisinau in early next year. Justice Minister Veronica Mihailov-Moraru today made statements to this effect at a news conference held jointly with Justice Minister of Romania Alina Gorghiu.
The Moldovan justice minister said that the forum represented a platform of interaction for representatives of all justice institutions of Moldova and Romania, high-rankling officials from both countries, civil society and mass media.
Veronica Mihailov-Moraru thanked her counterpart for the support and expertise provided to Moldova. She noted that the deepening of the bilateral dialogue was one of the priorities of the ministry.
„Certainly, the experience of the colleagues from Romania is quite important, when we talk about the ensuring of the access to a fair and transparent justice. The taking over of good practices at the work of the penitentiary system and the training of the employees of the penitentiary system and probation system is welcome too. Not in the least, we have a very nice cooperation and rapprochement between representatives of legal professions from Romania and Moldova and I am quite happy with the willingness of the Justice Ministry of Romania to support our initiatives of strengthening the normative and institutional framework,’’ the minister said.
Romanian Justice Minister Alina Gorghiu said that this was her first official visit. ‘’I am happy that my first visit as justice minister takes place in Moldova, which is a strong message, which confirms the support which Romania is providing to Moldova in any field. I thank the counterpart for invitation, for the discussions with her team and I assured her that we would continue the sustained approaches in the relation with EU and member states, for backing Moldova, on all levels related to the European integration. As a matter of fact, I gave assurances that we support all goals of reform which Moldova has assumed and there are not a few. Romania provides support for the getting of a positive decision till the end of this year as to the opening by Moldova of the negotiations on accession to EU. And please, let me, Mrs. Minister, assure you of our congratulations on the progress made in the implementation of those nine recommendations formulated by the European Commission. We are prepared to further provide the Moldovan authorities with technical assistance in the process of justice reform and consolidation of the rule of law state; we share our experience, especially from the pre-accession period, which was not simple for Romania either,’’ Alina Gorghiu said.
