Moldovan PM has meeting with Ukrainian parliament speaker

Chisinau, 23 August /MOLDPRES/ - The consolidation of the political dialogue, including of the inter-parliamentary cooperation, in achieving the common goal of accession to the European Union today was discussed at a meeting of Prime Minister Dorin Recean with Chairman of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada (parliament) of Ukraine Ruslan Stefanchuk, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The officials exchanged opinions on the recent developments in Ukraine and the present security situation in the region, in the context of Russia’s aggression war against the neighbour country. The Moldovan PM reconfirmed Moldova’s willingness to continue providing humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, as well as to the Ukrainian citizens who remain in Moldova.
Prime Minister Dorin Recean referred also to the progress made by Moldova in the European integration and the agenda of reforms implemented.
„We hope that the negotiations on accession to EU will start till the end of this year. For Moldova and Ukraine, this is the central objective of the authorities, backed by the residents of our countries,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.
The sides stressed the importance of implementing the projects, especially the ones on the reconstruction and creation of the Moldovan-Ukrainian cross-border infrastructure, in order to facilitate the flows of transit, export and import of goods.
Also, the officials appreciated the interaction between the legislative bodies of both states in the context of the European integration, which contributes to the consolidation of the bilateral relations in more spheres of common interest.
