Chisinau, 24 August /MOLDPRES/ - Ukraine marks its Independence Day on 24 August. President Maia Sandu has come up with a congratulatory message on this occasion, the presidential press service reported.
„Ukraine today celebrates the Independence Day with dignity. Independence is when the citizens can decide their future by themselves, when they are free to edify their own country just how they see it. The Ukrainians, through their boundless courage and determination, remind us about this truth every day,’’ President Maia Sandu said.
The head of state noted that Moldova had deep respect for Ukraine, not only as a neighbour, but also as a symbol of resistance and hope. ‘’We are eternally grateful for the force with which Ukraine protects the peace and security in the region, thus becoming a stronghold of freedom for millions of Europeans. Every day, my hope is that the peace will return to the Ukrainians’ homes as soon as possible and the Ukraine’s Independence Day will never be shadowed by war and suffering. Glory to Ukraine!,’’ the Moldovan president said.
President Maia Sandu and the presidential institution offer sincere thanks to the small choir of children Vivace of the Alexei Starcea Arts School and conductor Anton Dumbrava for the singing of the Ukrainian song, Chervona Kalyna.
