Average monthly salary increases by 16.3 per cent in Moldova in 2022

Chisinau, 25 August /MOLDPRES/ - The gross nominal average monthly salary was of 10,447.3 lei in 2022, up by 1,467.5 lei or by 16.3 per cent more against 2021.  

According to the National Statistics Bureau (BNS), the highest gross nominal average monthly salary was registered in the following activities: information and communications – more than 27,000 lei, which is 2.7-fold more against the average value in Moldova; financial activities and insurances – almost 20,000 lei; production and supply of electric and thermal energy, gas, hot water and conditioned air – over 15,000 lei.  

On the other hand, the lowest values of the average monthly salary were recorded in the activities of accommodation and public nourishment – 6,320 lei (by 39.5 per cent less against the average value in Moldova); agriculture forestry and fishing – 6,700 lei; art, recreation and leisure activities – 7,310 lei.  

In terms of regions, the gross monthly average salary in 2022 was under the average size on the country in all administrative and territorial units, expect for the Chisinau municipality. The lowest salaries were registered in the districts of Briceni, Ocnita and Donduseni.    

In late 2022, there were 729,600 wage earners, which is by 1.3 per cent or 9,900 people less against the end of 2021. At the same time, on the same period, 29,800 vacant jobs were recorded, which is 3.9 per cent out of their total number.
