Pre-Vetting Commission informs about latest decisions on evaluation of candidates non-judges of Moldova's Supreme Security Council

Chisinau, 25 August /MOLDPRES/ - The Pre-Vetting Commission today informed that it had analyzed the evaluation of the second group of candidates non-judges, put forward by the parliament for the office of member of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM). Thus, eight out of those nine candidates included in the list submitted by the parliamentary juridical commission for appointments and immunities have been evaluated and one withdrew from the contest.
According to the quoted source, candidate Leonid Chirtoaca meets the criteria of integrity and passes the evaluation. Candidate Nicolae Agachi does not meet the integrity criteria and, respectively, does not pass the evaluation.
Therefore, those two candidates are to notify the Commission on whether they accept or oppose the publication of the decisions in 48 hours. In the lack of the notification, the decisions will be placed on the Commission’s webpage.
According to the quoted source, eight out of those nine candidates with professional experience in the law sector or in other relevant field, included in list submitted to the Commission by the parliament’s juridical commission for appointments and immunities on 5 May 2023, went through the full process of evaluation of the integrity, in order to be able to become eligible for an office of CSM member and one withdrew from the contest and did not pass the evaluation. Following the verifications of those eight candidates who remained in the contest, six promoted the evaluation and two candidates did not pass the evaluation and do not meet the criteria of financial and ethic integrity.
