Chisinau, 25 August /MOLDPRES/ - The People’s Assembly (APG, local parliament) of the Gagauz-Yeri Autonomous Territorial Unit, which today held an extraordinary meeting to decide on the composition and structure of the regional executive body, took place with scandal. During the hot discussions, the bashkan (governor), Evghenia Gutul, demonstratively left the meeting.
After more acid retorts, the regional lawmakers managed to approve amendments to the status of the autonomy’s executive power; yet, they failed to give their opinions on the composition and structure of the executive body.
Following almost two hours of discussions with no result, bashkan Evghenia Gutul said she ‘’is disappointed by the region’s legislative body and that she does not want to participate in this hubbub any longer.’’ Gutul noted that she would subsequently act as she deems it fit, within the legal limits. After saying this, Gutul left the meeting, accompanied by all members of the executive body proposed by her, who attended the meeting of the APG too.
The MPs who remained in the session hall ruled to have a break and afterwards to return to the hall and try, nevertheless, to take a decision on the subject discussed.
