This year edition of Maria Biesu International Opera and Ballet Festival to start in Moldova on 7 September

Chisinau, 6 September /MOLDPRES/ - The 31st edition of the Maria Biesu International Opera and Ballet Festival will be held in Chisinau on 7-24 September 2023.

‘’The festival continues the mark an impressive cultural tradition in the heart of Moldova. This special event has turned into an emblem of the national culture and won prestige and recognition internationally, bringing to forefront opera and ballet artists of a high level,’’ the artistic director of the Maria Biesu National Opera and Ballet Theatre, Nicolae Dohotaru, said at a news conference today.

The 31st issue of the Maria Biesu International Opera and Ballet Festival will start with the Macbeth opera on 7 September at 18:00.

The current edition of the festival brings again a nice tradition – the concert at the Organ Hall, patronized by prima donna Maria Biesu in forcer times.

The festival will culminate with a gala concert on 24 September.

The festival budget is of 1.7 million lei (85,000 euros) and the event will be backed by partner institutions as well.
