Chisinau, 7 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Russian giant Gazprom has come up with a reaction following the publication of the findings of the audit of the alleged historical debt of the Moldovagaz company.
According to a press release issued by Gazprom, ‘’the conclusions of the auditor cannot affect at all the size and validity of the debt specified, especially as it is confirmed in the documents signed by Gazprom and Moldovagaz and the relevant decisions of the international arbitration.’’ ‘’The auditor and the conditions of the tender for the purchasing of its services were established unilaterally by the Moldovan side, without the agreement of Gazprom and Moldovagaz,’’ the quotes source also said.
In these conditions, Gazprom says that it ‘’intends to continue defending its rights in all ways possible.’’
Energy Minister Victor Parlicov on 6 September presented the findings of the audit of the alleged debt of Moldovagaz to Gazprom, carried out by two companies with international renown. Parlicov informed that, following the external audit, Moldova did not accept the historical debts of Moldovagaz, as according to the auditors, a great part of the alleged debt had not been confirmed through documents or cannot be executed. Thus, Moldova suggested that Moldovagaz pays a sum of about 8.6 million dollars alleged debt to Gazprom.
