Venice Commission's delegation on visit to Moldova

Chisinau, 7 September /MOLDPRES/ - A delegation of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission), led by its honorary president Hanna Suchocka, is on a visit to Chisinau.
According to the parliament’s communication and public relations department, the visit takes place in the context of the preparation of the Commission’s opinion on the draft law on the anticorruption judicial system and amendment of normative acts.
The Venice Commission’s delegation will meet the members of the parliament’s juridical commission for appointments and immunities. They also have planned a meeting with President Maia Sandu. The officials will also have discussions with representatives of the Justice Ministry, Interior Ministry, National Anticorruption Centre and Superior Council of Magistracy. The working agenda also includes meetings with the leadership of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and the National Integrity Authority.
Subsequently, the Venice Commission’s Opinion on the draft law on the anticorruption judicial system and amendment of normative acts will be considered and adopted at the Commission’s plenary session.
The draft law on the anticorruption judicial system and the amendment of normative acts is a legislative initiative by President Maia Sandu. It regulates the organization and work of the court specialized in corruption causes and of the anticorruption college of the Chisinau Court of Appeal.
