Moldovan president, Romanian PM discuss cooperation in energy sector, development of cross-border infrastructure

Chisinau, 7 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu, during a visit to Bucharest, has discussed with Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu the most important subjects on the bilateral agenda, including the cooperation in the energy sector and the development of the cross-border infrastructure, the presidential press service has reported.    

„I appreciated the progress made on joint projects and the assistance on behalf of Romania: opening of the Leova-Bumbata border crossing point, allocation of the first 10 million euros of the donation of 100 million euros, approved last year, for the support of our settlements and for the education sector. I thanked the Romanian partners for the assistance provided to Moldovan farmers in form of diesel. I stressed the fact that, starting from this month, the gas transportation networks of Moldova will be operated by Vestmoldtransgaz , held by Transgaz Romania and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD),’’ President Maia Sandu said.   

At the same time, the head of state noted that. for the next years, among the priority projects, there were the construction of the bridge in Ungheni and the reconstruction and extension of another three bridges, building of the Overhead Power Line of 400 kV Balti-Suceava, extension of the coordinated border control and the its transformation into joint control. ‘’We agreed on continuing the efforts, in order to attract more investments from Romania. These and many other projects get us ever closer and help us become more competitive and stronger,’’ the Moldovan president added.
