Chisinau, 8 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today participated in a ceremony dedicated to the 32nd anniversary of the creation of the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS), the presidential press service has reported.
The head of state appreciated the valuable work of the SIS officers and employees, in the conditions of the diversification of the security risks and the hybrid war waged against the state and Moldovan citizens. The president also thanked for the effort made in de-structuring of the organized crime networks, which aimed at destabilizing Moldova.
„The brutal and large-sale war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine brought again older threats to the European continent. The climate changes and the new technologies bring new risks, which we have not been facing so far. Moldova must be prepared to cope with these older and new threats. In this complicated and quickly changing context, the information support provided by SIS will be crucial for us to successfully adapt and reposition in the new regional environment. We rely on the capacity of SIS to anticipate, warn and even prevent, where possible, the threats before the latter show themselves,’’ Maia Sandu said.
The head of state stressed that, through its work, SIS contributed to a stable, peaceful Moldova and which follows its European course.
