Soroca Forum 2030 held in northern Moldova

Chisinau, 11 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- Soroca Forum 2030, as a platform for cooperation and sustainable growth for the municipality and the entire adjacent region took place during the Northern Development Region Days, the 9th edition, organized in September - October 2023.

Aiming at promoting urban and local economic development, the event brought together around 100 participants: central and local public authorities, representatives of accredited diplomatic missions in the Republic of Moldova, representatives of regional development institutions.  It was also attended by city representatives, businessmen and international investors who want to develop and strengthen sustainable partnerships in a future-oriented society.

"We see Soroca not only as a growth pole, being part of the six growth poles for the entire country. In the last two years, we have been trying to accelerate all local and regional development projects, including for the Soroca area, but also for the northern part of the country. Our friends are in the European Union, and Moldova must become a member of the European Union by 2030," Andrei Spînu, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development said.

"Regional development policy today represents a national prerogative and is implemented, in partnership, by central and local public administration authorities, regional development institutions, development partners - all in an active partnership, together implementing regional development projects and programs. Urban development represents one of the strategic directions of regional development. The role of cities in the socio-economic development of a state is of major importance. Although the cities of the Republic of Moldova face social, economic and environmental challenges, they however have the potential to become engines of regional development and generators of regional competitiveness", Maria Prisacari, director of the Regional Development Agency North said.

Soroca Forum 2030 is an initiative of the Soroca City Hall, in partnership with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development and the North Regional Development Agency. This event is organized with the support of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), through the Strong Enterprises and Municipalities for Moldova project, implemented by GIZ Moldova, and the Polish Development Cooperation Program - Assistance to Poland, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of to the Republic of Poland through Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova.
