Students of Moldova's medical university organize action on informing about risk factors in case of cardiovascular diseases

Chisinau, 2 October /MOLDPRES/ - A group of students, students studying for master’s degree and teachers of the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) have organized a social action titled, Promise your heart a healthy circulation!, through which they informed people about the risk factors which lead to the appearance of the cardiovascular diseases. The action was held in the context of the World Heart Day.
The medicine students informed passers-by, students and employees of the University about the significance of the World Heart Day and urged them to adopt a sound lifestyle, to move, to be aware of the impact of the climate changes on the health, to pay attention to the quality of the water consumed. At the same time, the young people gave apples and folders and the interested people measured their blood pressure and based on more individual indicators, their risk at cardiovascular diseases was calculated; in the end, they received personalized recommendations for the maintaining of a healthy heart.
The pro-rector for social activity, university lecturer, physician cardiologists interventionist Marcel Abras said that, to maintain a healthy heart, people must eliminate the risk factors, give up smoking, avoid animal fats, eat more fruits and vegetables and fish, lead a more active lifestyle and namely at least 150 minutes of physical effort per week, treat the pathologies related, so that the blood pressure reaches target values of 120/80 and the patients sick with diabetes should follow the treatment, in order to keep their glucose within the normal limits.
The action was carried out within the international project implemented by the Nicolae Testemitanu USMF.
