Chisinau, Oct. 3 /MOLDPRES/- On a visit to Lisbon, President Maia Sandu had a constructive dialogue with Moldovan community representatives in the Portuguese Republic, the presidential press service has reported.
"I met businessmen affected by corruption at home, but also those willing to invest and support the development of our economy. We saw young people who were educated in Portugal and who are interested in returning home, engineers who want to contribute to the modernization of the country and families who want more frequent and safer flights to be closer to home. I talked to citizens who aspire to a Moldova with equal opportunities, with fair justice, with European living standards", said the president.
Maia Sandu said that the stories she heard in the discussions with the members of the diaspora reflect everyone's desire to build a strong, united and prosperous Moldova - a European Moldova.
"I assured them that this is what we work for every day: we reform justice, we support entrepreneurs, we advance on the path of joining the European Union. I was also pleased by the passion of those who, although far from home, do not forget our culture and make efforts to bring our music closer to the Portuguese diaspora". In recognition of their valuable contribution to the consolidation of the Moldovan community in Portugal, Maia Sandu awarded honorary diplomas to Oleg Boghenco, Rodica Gherasim and Nadejda Calestru Ribeiro Oliveira.
