Chisinau, 3 October /MOLDPRES/ - The representatives of the Shor Political Party, declared unconstitutional, can run for elections, including the general local polls due on 5 November 2023. The Constitutional Court (CC) issued a ruling to this effect today.
The ruling was pronounced following a notification submitted by representative of the Shor Party. ‘’The notification submitted by MPs Marina Tauber, Reghina Apostolova, Vadim Fotescu, Petru Jardan and Denis Ulanov is admitted. The Article 16, paragraph (2), letter e) of the Electoral Code is declared unconstitutional. The present ruling is final and cannot be subjected to any way of appeal, enters into force on the date of adoption and is published in the Official Journal of Moldova,’’ CC president Nicolae Rosca said.
During the session of the High Court, supporters of the Shor Party organized a protest rally outside the Constitutional Court’s building and demanded that the people related to the formation are able to participate in elections.
The Shor Party was declared unconstitutional in last June. Subsequently, the parliament approved legislative amendments, which sees that the members of the parties declared unconstitutional will not be able to be elected for a period of five years after the issuance of CC’s ruling.
