Parliament backs Growth for Moldova Package in first reading

Chisinau, 5 October /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament, at a today’s meeting, ratified the state budget, in order to include the measures provided for in the Growth for Moldova package. The package refers to the financing of development projects, salary increases and additional growths for about 170,000 citizens from diverse activity sectors, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The PM said that Russia’s brutal war against Ukraine continued to have impact on Moldova. Nevertheless, the government stays focused on the increase in the volume of investments, stimulation of enterprises’ work and, in particular, improvement of the citizens’ living standards.
The budget rectification amounts to about 1.65 billion lei and the biggest allocations of financial resources regard one-off payments and salary increases, for which 846.9 million lei will be allocated. The salaries of physicians and medical assistants from the budget-financed institutions are to be increased. The teachers from all education institutions will receive a one-off payment of 5,000 lei and the non-didactic staff – 3,000 lei. The policemen and carabineers employees of the Foreign Affairs Ministry will benefit from a one-off payment of 5,000 lei. At the same time, the salaries of about 1,700 culture people will increase by an average of 25 per cent. All justice system employees, besides judges and prosecutors, will benefit from salary increases.
„The judges still owe to the society this effort of self-cleaning and elimination of corruption. Those who pass the vetting, I mean the judges and prosecutors, will also benefit from a salary increase of 20 per cent,’’ PM Dorin Recean said.
Additionally, 100 million lei will be earmarked for roads’ repair, 300 million lei – for projects on development of villages and cities and for the European Village programme, as well as 100 million lei - as growth for agriculture. Another 352 million will be allocated, in order to cover the expenses for electric energy and heating, consumed by schools, kindergartens, hospitals and other public sector institutions.
